Join with confidence

A lot of current members tell me they put off joining because they thought they wouldn't be good enough; and when they did eventually join they realised they were absolutely in the right place. You don't have to be shooting on manual, you don't have to know what you're doing and you don't even have to use a big camera if you don't want to.

The club is a place to continue YOUR journey. If you want to work with your phone camera all year, that's fine. If you want to take up something new like bird photography or macro, then you'll find lots of people ready to help you.

If the only thing stopping you joining is that you're worried you won't fit in, then go ahead and sign up, and join in for the first month.

If you decide it's not for you during the first month, just email me and I'll arrange a full refund

What current members say

  • No need to be nervous

I felt nervous about moving on to the club, as I was worried about how competitive the new group would be and whether I would be able to keep up, how I would fit in. I hoped I would be able to work at my own pace and not feel too pressured. It was very reassuring to see familiar names in the club and I needn't have worried at all, as it is everything I hoped it would be and more!

  • You are ready

Before you join know that you don't have to be perfect. Don't be put off thinking your photos aren't good enough.

  • The end of the rainbow

If potential newcomers are searching for a photography club that supports its members in every single way, they need search no more. Emma’s club is the crock of gold at the end of the rainbow.

  • No distractions

It's so great to be a part of a focused supportive community where I don't feel I'm scrolling/time wasting.

  • This is just for me

It is a challenging in a creative way yet comfortable place to be. I love the community, the acceptance without expectations or pressure and the way the projects can be dipped into or not. It has been without a doubt one of the best things I have ever done that is just for me!

  • No pressure

I felt like a bit of an imposter in applying to join the camera club, but something seemed to tell me to apply anyway and I’ve really enjoyed being part of it ever since. I think most people here will agree that it’s an enjoyable, very friendly on-line camera club, with no pressure, but with access to lots of technical lessons, inspiring videos from guest speakers. It keeps you motivated and provides ideas and you can come and go as you please.

FAQ

  • What's included?

You get immediate access to all the existing camera club projects. Each month a new project is added. There is a private members-only community platform for discussion and photo sharing (not Facebook).

  • Is the club suitable for complete beginners?

You need to understand what aperture, shutter speed and ISO are, and how the camera exposes. You do not need to shoot on manual mode all the time, but you need to know how to do it in theory. If you're not ready yet, join A Year With My Camera (AYearWithMyCamera.com) for free beginner's lessons. If you've done the first book of AYMWC (or the first 4 modules) you're ready to join. The projects are designed to let you take the ideas in your own direction, rather than being told exactly what to do.

  • Do I need processing software?

Most members use Lightroom or Affinity. You don't need to process your images to join the club but we recognise that processing is part of the image creation process.

  • What camera do I need?

Most members us a camera with manual controls but you can join in almost all the projects with a basic phone camera.

  • Is feedback included?

Feedback is available from Emma during our once-a-month online get-togethers. Peer critique is encouraged when requested.

  • When does membership open?

New registrations are invited when space becomes available.

  • Are refunds given?

The joining fee is refundable within the first 30 days of membership. You can cancel your ongoing subscription at any time.
